Sun Kil Moon - Benji

《因為馬克喜歡寫標題長到不得了而且似乎喜歡寫到什麼就用什麼的詩,所以這裡也用一首分行文字代替樂評》

Sun Kil Moon's Music feels like minimalism meets rap
where he recites his college-like poems with rap-like beats.
With a hint of Jazz and rock and so on.
which I feel this thing positive and encourages

Don't ask me what Mark did before this -
'cause I delete Perils from the Sea after listening for 5 Secs.
I just wrote a prose because I can't resist
so don't blame me for being a amiss.

"I Watched the Film the Song Remains the Same" is way too long
that I only listen for a few times and completely forgone
it's just like this album: way too long, straight on,
consist of stuffs that you really won't sing along.

"Micheline" does have a good melody
and when Mark sings about his Grandma is particularly lovely.
"Jim Wise"'s instrumentation are calmly
with the chimes and bells and ding and the blinky.

I guess Mark does love his Father and mother,
otherwise he won't be singing "I love my dad" eight times.
His attitude is so very genuine and touching
but I don't like listening to a Grandad telling everyday stories.

Maybe it's life, and May it be our life
that we can view life and death like Mark.
so very natural and so very calm
so very blend and so very daily.

I need fillers to fill in
I need fillers to fill in
I need fillers to fill in
I need fillers to fill in

"Dogs" talks about Mark giving his first stinger
and Mark's Uncle dies when he was young.
I don't know why, but lots of people dies,
probably Mark's relatives are all fucked up.

stories connect and join like a web
like "Benji" the album suggest -
life is like a movie and people dies
this is just another Tenderloin summer and we move on

To this blue crab cake summer
To this blue crab cake summer
To this blue crab cake summer
To this blue crab cake summer
